Liberia: NPP Supports Prosecution of Former Officials from Weah Administration for Alleged Corruption

Monrovia – The National Patriotic Party (NPP) has thrown its support behind the Unity Party-led government’s decision to prosecute former officials from ex-President George Weah’s administration accused of corruption. NPP Chairman Atty. George Mulbah emphasized the importance of addressing corruption comprehensively, urging that the process should be fair and not selective.
At a recent press conference, Mulbah emphasized that many senior members of the past regime such as Ex-Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, Ex-National Security Advisor Jefferson Karmoh, Ex-Solicitor General Cllr. Nyenati Tuan., Ex-Comptroller of Financial Intelligence Unit D Moses P. Cooper and Former Director General of Financial Intelligence Agency Stanley Ford been indicted including others like Cllr. Tuan, Karmoh and Cooper who were detained when they failed to secure criminal appearance bond because they could not afford to pay for it for charges relating to economic sabotage.
The NPP, a critical member of the Coalition for Democratic Change said that current government’s anti-corruption efforts would promote good governance and accountability under President Joseph Boakai.
